The real economy reflects sectors related to the production of goods and services.
A just transition is important for all economic sectors, in all countries at all levels of development, and in rural and urban areas alike. Decarbonisation activities undertaken in the real economy need to consider and carefully manage the positive and negative impacts their actions have on individuals, workers, consumers and communities.
