Context

As a just transition becomes increasingly accepted by business as a strategic goal, the focus is shifting towards granular sector- and institution-specific targets. These targets mean it is possible to develop metrics to measure progress and evaluate whether the social dimensions of climate action are indeed being managed as a fiduciary responsibility by the financial world.

How we will provide solutions

While the Just Transition Finance Lab is not a standard-setting initiative, it can play a useful role in helping how the just transition can be meaningfully communicated through robust metrics, and by encouraging adoption so that real change takes place. This is a new area of research for the Lab as we try to help guide finance into just transition strategies, instruments and projects.
