Policy Fellow (Just Transition Finance Lab – Financial Sector)
Salary from £53,204 to £61,301 pa inclusive, with potential to progress to £68,119 pa inclusive of London allowance.
This is a fixed term appointment until 31 December 2026, with a possibility of extension subject to further funding
The Just Transition Finance Lab at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment is a centre for experimentation and excellence in the financial solutions needed for a just transition to a net zero and nature positive economy. The Lab seeks to appoint up to two policy fellows to contribute to its research and engagement programmes focused on enabling the just transition through finance.
The primary responsibilities of this role are to deliver high quality research to strengthen the Lab’s knowledge foundations in just transition finance and identify how the Lab’s activities can contribute to the transformation of the financial system to support a just transition. The role will support the development of solutions for financing a just transition through rigorous research and policy-oriented analyses. The role also includes stakeholder engagement, managing networks and participating in strategic initiatives within the Lab and broader institutional frameworks.
Candidates should have a postgraduate degree in a finance, economics, climate science, climate policymaking, climate economics or a closely related field. The candidate(s) will also have good financial sector experience in public institutions, or in private investment, regulatory, think-tank or research-based roles. The candidate(s) will have a proven track record of authoring and leading high-quality research and outputs (e.g. reports, briefings, events) that achieve impact and influence, and demonstrable experience of delivering impact and influence with financial sector actors through evidence-based approaches. The candidate(s) should also have good project management skills, including supervising staff and integrating and managing the contribution of senior colleagues and external partners.

Policy Analyst (Just Transition Finance Lab – Financial Sector)
Salary from £42,679 to £51,000 pa inclusive with potential to progress to £54,730 pa inclusive of London allowance.

The Just Transition Finance Lab at the Grantham Research Institute (GRI) on Climate Change and the Environment is a centre for experimentation and excellence in the financial solutions needed for a just transition to a net zero and nature positive economy. The Lab seeks to appoint two Policy Analysts to contribute to its research and engagement programmes focused on enabling the just transition through finance.
We are seeking up to two policy analysts to work closely with the team to support the design of practical solutions to financing the just transition across the Labs. The post holder(s) will conduct research and develop policy-oriented analysis on financing a just transition to a net zero and climate resilient economy, contributing to the publications of policy reports, briefing papers and blogs, with a possibility of other work on transition finance. They will also focus on the identification of emerging good practice in just transitions and facilitate the build of a robust evidence database.
Candidates will hold a master’s degree in finance, economics, climate science, climate policymaking, climate economics or a related subject, with experience and understanding of the financial sector and climate issues in applied research and policy analysis including writing for and engaging with financial sector actors. In addition, the post holder(s) will have excellent and demonstrable interest and understanding of the just transition as it pertains to the financial sector. They will have strong analytical skills with the ability to produce high-quality policy analysis in a timely manner, including ability to analyse and research complex ideas and execute qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
