Launch: Joint discussion paper on just transition finance at COP31 - video
At COP30, Parties agreed to develop a dedicated Just Transition Mechanism. The question now is whether COP31 will establish a mechanism capable of having a real impact on the ground, including through its capacity to facilitate climate finance in support of just transitions. Finance is a hinge on which the just transition turns, so what must finance-related provisions look like within the Mechanism? The Just Transition Finance Lab and Climate Action Network International launch their joint discussion paper on just transition finance at this event. The discussion covers how to keep the door open to closely align just transitions with broader climate finance deliberations, and what accelerating support for just transition on the ground means in practice.
